Huge thanks to Kat Bruce from The Protected Areas Foundation for coming along to help us with another spring low tide session on Friday. So much incredible life to be seen under the rocks and seaweed!
See what you can name - answers at the end of the pics....
Thanks to Cailean for bringing along some of his amazing skull collection to show the group and to Lochbroom Filling Station Ullapool for filling that vital end-of-session ice cream gap....
Jellyfish ambassador Saorsa made an interesting find at low tide yesterday....not just any jellyfish, early in the year for these....can you identify it?
Hint: Marine Conservation Society have some great guides and a page where you can report interesting sightings like this:
An absolutely fascinating session about seabirds with Paul Copestake yesterday!
Going through a small sample of his huge collection of books, hearing about how he got into bird watching at their age and learning how to identify birds. We also heard about how important seabird observations are as indicators of the health of the marine environment - really grateful to Paul for giving us all wee notebooks to start recording our own observations.
We also got to examine some pretty amazing skulls...can you figure out which birds they are from?
