CONGRATULATIONS! To Abbie, Maisy and Callum

CONGRATULATIONS! To Abbie, Maisy and Callum for completing their Powerboat2 training yesterday!!! So proud of you three!

They were thrown some pretty challenging conditions on day 1, but they rose to meet them incredibly well, pushed through and worked really hard at building their practical skills as well as their theoretical knowledge over two day course. This was the first time we've delivered the training on our very own fabulous PionerMulti, Mada Chuain and she also rose to the occasion fabulously. What. A. Boat. 💙 It means a huge amount to us to be able to provide this training for USS' young people and we are deeply grateful to Ullapool Harbour Trust for providing the financial and practical support to make it possible. Thanks also to UHI NWH Ullapool for running the course and to Tim Hamlet for making the delivery of it such a joy.

Huge number of access trips

The last few days have allowed us to get in a huge number of access trips, remore beach cleans, and creel trips. Playing catch up with the pictures. Here's Lewis out with us a couple of days ago enjoying some time on the Loch. Thanks to Kimberley for the shout and bringing him out with us.

Fun times at Ullaspool earlier this week with Cal Major - Ocean Advocate

Fun times at Ullaspool earlier this week with Cal Major - Ocean Advocate, doing some training and prep for a series of snorkelling sessions with her brilliant charity Seaful. Really excited to get in the sea and use our new skills to see first hand what's going on under the surface! Thanks to Noel Hawkins and the amazing team at Lochbroom Leisure Centre for all their support and to The National Lottery Heritage Fund Scotland for making the Love Our Seas project a reality.

As promised, shots from yesterday’s creeling sessions!

Loads of crabs, a spectacular starfish, cute little spiny, ever-growing sea squirts….. always so much life in the sea!! Also took a try at some angling (because we’re running out of bait - if anyone can help with that, we’d be very grateful!) and did some work on our boat handling skills. Some great wee skippers-in-the-making…. 😁👌 Thanks to everyone who supports us and makes these trips a reality for so many local kids.

Such amazing weather!

Got the opportunity to get out with Chrissy and Pat to take a look out around Annat Bay where we had seals, sea eagle, and Deborah Davy 's Exmoor Ponies in at Achmore (amazing ponies worth checking out if you don't know about them!) Clear blue skies, near perfect seas and good to hear their tales of Sailing Club exploits and how much they love the loch and our seas too. We tried the new slip at the wee pier and is great - we need to make of this! Looks like a few days of this ahead - if anyone else fancies coming out, please get in touch. We're really trying to emphasise that we do this to give everyone the chance to get out and share the stunning seas and coast we have. Please message Ullapool Sea Savers or get in touch with Janis or Noel if you or someone you know would like to get out and take part.

In a break from her usual routine

In a break from her usual routine, our wee PionerMulti boat Mada Chuain was out yesterday helping our friend James Appleton Photography to get footage of the extraordinary ultramarathon swimmer Ross Edgley as he trains for his next incredible challenge! 💪🏊‍♂️❄️ Extraordinary and deeply inspirational stuff. Excited to see the finished film!

As part of our accessible seas trips, we took out

As part of our accessible seas trips, we took out someone visiting family today to help survey what's happening with our wildlife. Grey and harbour seals back on regular haul.outs. Razorbills, black guillemot and shags showing in big numbers and breeding plumage. Sea eagles back in nesting area so hopefully good news. And common dolphin in Loch Broom again. Sunshine helped make it nice too!
